Oh I have to take issue with you again, cwoodward. While the Man Wah is excellent, I don’t think either the sole or the lobster bisque quite match those in the the Red Room (in the Hong Kong Cub, for those not in the know). I had my last dinner there (at least for a while) last month, having switched to Overseas Membership at the end of September – quite a sweet deal at HK$5,000pa but still retaining the ability to visit reciprocal clubs. I am told that the UK clubs limit reciprocal visits to 30 times a year but with nine clubs in London alone I can’t see us busting that limit! What a shame there isn’t one in Gibraltar…

Speaking of… given that we fly out on Saturday, does anyone have information on how lounge access works nowadays? ie is the choice of lounge dependent on which gates you leave from (I seem to recall from the last time we left HKG that all long-haul and medium-haul flights left from the far end and that there was a check-point halfway along the concourse)? Can we go to The Wing (where the F lounge is open) even if our flight departs from the far end? If so, does it take longer to get to the far end (last time we had to go through additional checks at the check-point I mentioned). If we can – is The Haven open or is it just buffet dining (timing – and my current mobility issues – are such that we want to get there early and dine in the lounge. Any information gratefully received!
