SwissdiverParticipantGeneva Airport has just got an award as “Airport of the year” in the category of 10 to 30 million passengers (http://www.atn.aero/article.pl?mcateg=&id=42343). No idea what it is worth, but it sounds good!

DavidGordon10ParticipantWell, Manchester won “Best UK Airport Travel Weekly Globe” last year which shows that not all “best airport” awards mean anything. That being said, GVA is a good airport to use, and is a model of how ground transfers should be handled – the free bus or train ticket into the city centre is really excellent. So I am pleased for Geneva.

TerryMcManus24ParticipantWonder whos got it right…from ACI
And the best airport is…
Moscow Sheremetyevo ……(is it that GOOD?)
….has been voted the best airport in Europe for customer service by the Airports Council International.
Close runners up were Malta, Edinburgh, Keflavik, and Zurich.
The winners of the customer-service awards are determined by travellers themselves, who fill out questionnaires at the gates of airports around the world throughout the year.
In North America, the top five airports were in Indianapolis, Ottawa, Tampa, Sacramento, and Jacksonville.
In Asia, the winner was Seoul Incheon, followed by Singapore, Beijing, New Delhi, and Hong Kong.
….Never actually been to Moscow but have their Airports/services improved that much?

MarkCymruParticipantYes, Terry. The new SVO terminals are amazing (although the old Soviet-era terminal F is only for the severely nostalgic) and the customer service is surprisingly friendly and helpful. Last time I was there, the queue for immigration control for transit passengers had got to be about five minutes long so they had a border guard come and let some of us through a side door.
On the other hand, I assume that the GVA award must have come exclusively from passengers fortunate enough never to have trekked up and down its multiple dilapidated stairways or queued for its passport control cabins

SwissdiverParticipantMark,
Did you come lately in GVA? Beyond the weird passport control when coming from the satellite servicing notably the flights from the UK, the process is now quite smooth.18 Mar 2013
