Fly Play, what’s going on? Payment is a “security risk” according to my bank

Booked this airline from Stansted to Keflavik via Expedia. Expedia say they paid Play, Play say they didn’t receive payment so cancelled the booking 12 hours later.

I then tried to book directly with Play, Lloyds Bank Visa Debit and then Barclaycard Visa, both companies blocked payment because of “security”.

Has anybody had similar experiences or know what the deal is?

I know nothing about this airline. However, in your circumstances I would have done an immediate chargeback against Expedia (as the booking agent) if they didn’t refund you. If you actually paid by Amex (and not Lloyds or Barclays), you can block the payment online.

Play is very much in business right now.

Industry publication Aviationweek.com [subscription required] reports that Play plans large expansion in 2023.
