I don’t think either on EY you sit in a claustrophobic coffin though of course as you pointed out Ian, that is acceptable whereas EY F isn’t!

Though I have put this on another thread it is more appropriate to put it here.

CAPA reported 17th, that Etihad is looking at investing in Malaysia Airlines. Apparently, the other members of oneworld have been informed, as a courtesy, and the one with the best option is Qatar but looks unlikely to invest.

Etihad made to first approach to MAS but the eventual decision will be made by the Malaysian government which is the majority shareholder.

CAPA understands a tie-up is a win-win solution for both carriers though there are strong advantages to a link-up with Qatar.

In a previous article(16-5-14) CAPA examined in detail the need for restructuring by MAS because of the reduced traffic due to the loss of flight MH370, and to the inadequate restructuring at previous attempts.

Reported on Breaking News this morning.
“Etihad Airways expands Jet Airways codeshare deal”

Even though this was on the cards ever since Etihad invested in Jet Airways, it just goes to show how ambitious Etihad is.

As per the BBC article “negotiations are reported to have been held back by Alitalia’s reluctance to make job cuts part of the deal”.

Would have thought that point was a bit on a no brainer for any deal given Alitalia’s continued losses, good luck to them, hope they pull it off

Politically it’s almost impossible for AZ to make staff cuts. Even if agreed, it won’t happen.

Overseas at the moment, and BBC world confirmed that the Etihad 49% share has gone through with Alitalia. The Government added without Etihad there would no longer be an Alitalia, simply not sustainable. It also said, that the loss of some jobs would be inevitable.

We shall see with what Etihad does with it. KLM /AF hold i think around 12% reduced share now, but EY also have an agreement of 15 years co-operations with Etihad current.
So, be easy for a Board majority.

Lets see what Etihad do with Alitalia now. They will have lots of resources to pull on. Will we have Etihad Europe, or will they just own several European Airlines having turned them around, and also steer eastwards custom to their ever expanding and ground breaking cabins.
