    Hi guys,

I have never tried English sparkling wine and I temped to try it, because my English friends are limited I would like to ask you for recommendations, can anyone suggest me one or two 😉 and a way to buy it? Is it easy to find it in Scotland or I will have to order it online.

    Thanks

I have visited the vineyard at Chapel Down, which you can buy online:

I would recommend the Bacchus, and actually I’d steer clear of the sparkling and start with white wine; serve it at home, lightly chilled (it’s not robust enough to be served very cold) and ask your guests to guess where it’s from.

Otherwise, Waitrose is the best stockist, and most Hotels du Vin have a few bottles (the excellent sommelier, Romain, at the HdV Edinburgh will help out if you’re still there).

EDITED, he’s now at the new London HdV and highly worth getting to know.

You can also buy English wines via the http://www.bawineclub.co.uk/ which is operated by Laithwaite’s.

You get 1,000 BA Miles for your first case.
