One year ago I started a thread re the new Elizabeth Line and it was well received.

It featured a YouTube from BBC Tom Edwards about the overcrowding and there was news that more trains would be running from May 2023.

Yes the extra trains did run but now the London-Reading mainline infrastructure is coming under pressure and it will be overhauled over an 18 month period.

Network Rail’s Marcus Jones admitted “our performance hasn’t been good enough. We have consistently been letting down customers. They cannot guarantee a servive every day.”

Steve Smith, from a local commuter group is quoted as saying the service (on his section of line) is “absolutely appalling. Only one in three of our paddintgon trains is on time.”

Details in this BBC report from Paul Clifton
