Easyjet verkleinert Flotte in Basel und baut Stellen ab

Two aircraft removed from its Basel base. 70 jobs to be cut.

EZY Switzerland says “Unfortunately the falling demand and the prospects until 2023 mean that we need fewer aircraft and have fewer opportunities for our employees to work.”

EZY currently employs 450 staff in Basel and 570 in Geneva (15 aircraft based there).

    No further news.

I also believe that Swiss’s offers are now virtually the same, or even beat the fares of EZY. However Swiss offer a lot more especially if you have any status with them. While Basel Airport does have advantages if you live nearby, it’s still a bit of a trek by bus. No rail link and high costs to park. Hence Zurich Airport is still much favoured. There are very good rail links from Basel direct to “Flughafen” with a transit time a little over an hour.
