CaptainGazParticipantWonder what’s the real issue here and how it will impact customers…
“A number of airlines are to be briefed this afternoon on the nature of security problems at Dublin Airport.
The European Commission yesterday imposed additional security procedures on aircraft travelling from Dublin Airport to other EU airports.
It followed what the Commission described as the Dublin Airport Authority’s failure to deal quickly enough with security deficiencies that were identified by an audit.
The DAA said the new measures would not impact on passengers at Dublin Airport, but could affect some of those transferring through other EU airports.
But the authority said it could not give details of the problem for security reasons.
Aer Arann, Aer Lingus, Cityjet, Ryanair and a representative from the charter flight industry are due to attend a meeting of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee this afternoon.
It is expected that they will be given details about the nature of the security problem and the impact it is likely to have on them.
The meeting will be chaired by the Department of Transport.
The DAA said it could take two months to rectify the problem.”http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0516/dublin-airport-airlines-security-problems.html

CaptainGazParticipantIt now becomes clear that there were two issues:
(1) Incoming Intl pax can mix with outgoing domestic or UK pax. Therefore, no immigration checks at all and if you’d had printed an onward boarding pass for a domestic or UK destination ex DUB you’d be free to enter any domestic or UK destination as no visa checks at all are carried out by immigration/airlines at departure gates. On top of this there is no ID check on incoming domestic flights at any Irish airport or in the UK for arrivals from the Republic of Ireland.
(2) No security screening on cargo been delivered to aircraft for example bundles of news papers and catering.

pat0406ParticipantI cannot see or understand what all the fuss is about! All passengers transiting thru any European or other hub from Dublin, has always to go thru a plethora of futher security screening, from Frankfurt to Abu Dhabi, and none moreso than the nightmare that is Heathrow, rude, unfriendly and so often chaotic! Worst transit in the world…proven itself again recently for its outlandish immigration queues! Such a shame they all cant be like Changi, or Hong Kong. Pat, Dublin
