Citibank had an AAdvantage Visa Gold card available in the UK which came with a paltry 5,000 AAdvantage Miles sign up bonus and a pathetic 1:1 earnings rate.

It was useful for keeping the American Airlines account active and building up miles when you needed to pay by Visa.

I received a letter from Citi stating that the Citi AAdvantage Gold will cease to exist at the end of 2009.

Any miles earned from purchases until then will still credit, but the card will be withdrawn after that.

They are offering a new Citi Gold card, which, frankly, I don’t think I’ll bother with.

Apparently AA will announce some new credit card affiliate at some point.

I would imagine it will be MBNA who seem to have cornered the market with affiliate white labelled American Express cards.

You can still maintain your AA Miles by clicking on http://www.opinionplace.com every few weeks.
