continentalclubParticipantI can’t see anything comparable to some of the really super deals that broke cover around about this time last year, but it’s at least a little encouraging that some promotions are bubbling up again after the last few weeks of not-a-lot. Cathay have just emailed:
Adelaide From GBP689
Auckland From GBP629
Brisbane From GBP629
Cairns From GBP689
Melbourne From GBP619
Perth From GBP599
Sydney From GBP629
And in Business:
Adelaide From GBP3,109
Auckland From GBP3,029
Brisbane From GBP3,119
Cairns From GBP3,109
Melbourne From GBP3,119
Perth From GBP2,999
Sydney From GBP3,119
If you don’t mind an extra sector, and a non-horizontal bed to Asia (usually) then Finnair is still a cheaper option for J-class at the moment, but some will value the benefits of Cathay exUK.
Note that there may be a few pounds more to be saved on these fares by booking with an agent/consolidator. Cathay don’t charge a card fee per se, but they can still end up being a touch more expensive than folks who do, like netflights.com.
All the Ts&Cs are on the CX site at the above links; Y-class to be booked by 21 April, J-class by 30 April. Availability seems OK.

continentalclubParticipantCathay fares on their website are now back up to the usual c£1000 for a UK-Oz in Economy.
However, Opodo have just emailed advertising Cathay fares exclusive to them which broadly mirror the ones above:
Melbourne £635 http://bit.ly/9u2qi6
Auckland £636 http://bit.ly/dn3LJ7
Sydney £646 http://bit.ly/b80uGL
Book by June 5 for outbound travel May 28 to June 15; Sep 1 to Sep 30 and Nov 1 to Nov 30.
Do remember that Opodo charge a credit card fee.
Ts & Cs: Weekend supplements may apply for travel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Taxes and charges are outside of Opodo’s control and may vary day to day, and according to routing. The correct taxes and charges will be calculated and displayed before you confirm your purchase. Where applicable, the above fares are valid only if the following connecting flights are taken: Hong Kong to Sydney on flight CX139, Hong Kong to Melbourne on flight CX163.
