I really fail to see the logic of requiring the card used to purchase being presented. It doesn’t provide any confirmation of identity and if passport, FFP cards etc all tally up then there shouldn’t be any issue. Playing the security card is just ridiculous.

Thankfully I don’t think I have ever been asked to produce the card.

Now I’m mystified that after flying for many decades on numerous airlines and 5 continents plus OZ/NZ (often long distance from the Far East – but never on Etihad) I’ve never once been asked to show a credit card at check in. Do I just look honest or what??

Happened to me only once, in Doha when checking in on a QR flight to LHR. And once to my wife when she flew alone on a ticket which was charged on my credit card. I received a call from the duty manager and cross- checked my card number, no further delays and problems at all.
