Thank you for that, but as far as I know at over 5000 miles Amsterdam-Houston is beyond the non-stop range for any of the 737 variants?
As Simon says it was a 44-seat 737 which KLM leased from Privatair. I am certain it was non-stop. In fact it would have to be non-stop otherwise J class pax might opt for the regular KLM flight instead.

Those 737s could accomplish long flights in that configuration.

Around year 2000 I took a 44-seat all-J class Privatair 737 charter which operated non-stop both ways between London STN and Dubai. That’s a flight length of around 4,500 miles.

Although it did have to go via Shannon for refuelling, with the added benefit of US clearance. One of the great benefits of flying via DUB, especially with Aer Lingus. A joy to arrive stateside as a domestic passenger!

Apologies. This was responding to Martyn’s earlier post.

BA’s other A318 will be scrapped. It’s just 12 years old.

This comes after four years with Titan and eight years with BA.

SAS also used a similar plane for a non-stop Stavanger-Houston route. It was short lived.

    I don’t think STN-DXB is 4,500 miles. I would guess at nearer 3,500.

You are correct esselle. My mistake.
