ShearerParticipantAfter a brilliant few days in Copenhagen, that included a day tip over to Helsingborg, Lund and Malmo, it was time to head home.
Public transport in Copenhagen is really good and the airport is a few stops away from the city centre. The trains look like this:

Using my Avios to travel in Club Europe gave me access to the Novia Lounge at Copenhagen Airport. Which is a strange one. How do you make an airport lounge something special, in an airport that is already pretty special. Copenhagen Airport is a delight to use, although Fastrak access to security is by using a ‘blink or you’ll walk past it’ lane.
The lounge had some superb Danish breads, some cheese and hams and the usual selection of drinks. Unlike in other lounges I have used, the mixers and soft drinks were were in full size bottles to pour from, and the Cokes etc. were from a dispenser.
I had some bread with my GGG&T.
And the reading material was limited…

..but to a geek like me it was great reading other airlines inflight magazines!
I would not pay for this lounge. Where I was seated overlooked an airport bar and that looked far more fun. Also, the lights were at an irritating level for me:

I made my way to the gate which I forgot was through passport control, thankfully no queues and I was at the gate before long. Boarding was announced and I settled in to my seat. (2F).
Drinks were served, champagne natch.
Followed by a really really tasty meal offering.

The staff were great, and they let me keep the little Champagne glasses. 🙂

andrew007ParticipantNIRscot, thanks for this report which I enjoyed and could relate to in many ways – the agony of the X26 caught in traffic (though it got me from LHR – Wallington Green in just over an hour last night), table levels in The Galleries (depending which section you are sat in…), cleaning of the cabins (or sometimes the lack of it), but also many of the positives and what I think is a pretty good deal for flight redemption. My experence was a short while back taking my elderly year old father to Madrid – I have previously used BA Club Europe a lot but a C Class trip for him was a first and he had a whale of a time. The crew were charming throughout and he was made to feel really special. If I am honest my flights with BA (short and long haul) have ranged widely and I am always a little sceptical but they came up trumps for my trip as it seems they did for yours of similar distance if only in a different direction. Again thanks for sharing.

lloydahParticipantThank you for reminding me how nice Copenhagen is NIRscot. The last time I was there I went to the ticket office to book a train into the city and was met with copious apologies because the trains were all running late due to a fire in the tunnel.(All in perfect English of course) I dithered about a bit thinking of a taxi when the female clerk continued “Yes Sir, I’m afraid there is a 4 minute delay.” I dithered no longer!

DavidGordon10ParticipantA nice review NIRscot, and those of us who spend a lot of time in CPH (just under 50% of the year, an important figure for tax reasons) appreciate your positive comments. It is indeed a great place to be.
A couple of comments. The public transport is indeed excellent, the Metro is the best route in from the airport, and if you are going to be there for more than a few hours get a Klippecort to use on the bus, train and Metro. You can plan your journey very easily on http://www.rejseplanen.dk/ (available in English). To really appreciate CPH, hire a bike (there is an excellent hire place just outside the South side of the main railway station) and get around like the locals.
Flights – I almost always fly SAS but have been re-booked onto BA once and was impressed by the BA service. The Novia lounge is OK – but much the best, if you have a Star Alliance gold card and are on SAS is the Copenhagen lounge which is really really excellent.
The Danes are charming, wonderful to work with, and have excellent English. There are three national sports (recycling, the theft of bicycles and junk mail) and three golden rules: always obey the pedestrian control lights; always recycle; and always admire the Queen of Denmark.

Have you noticed that in Scandinavia the summers are very warm indeed. I like Copenhagen too, but my favourite city in that part of the world is Oslo, despite the eye-watering prices.

DavidGordon10ParticipantNIRscot @ 19.19. The charming Italian who works in Tagensvej and who repairs my bike said to me “Why do you live here? The food? No.” (he is Italian, I love the food, but there you go) “The weather? No. The girls…??” Then his charming Danish partner appeared…..
