I fine the EU and NON-EU airline perplexing.

So when I am about to buy a produce from 2 competing carriers (let’s say in this case a flight to HKG and back from London and I can choose BA or CX) the BA ticket would come with a (e261) compensation guarantee and the CX ticket would not have any mandatory compensation if the Return sector of the ticket was cancelled or severly delayed ? ? ?

Please tell me, what is fair or logical about :
    The airline industry?
    The EU?
    Life?

    Or am I too cynical?

SwissExPat – regarding the last part of your most recent post, you are correct.

Returning from Asia on CX, if you are delayed etc, E261 would not apply as they are a non EU airline.
I’m as sure as can be on this point as I had a 10 hour delay in arriving back at LHR with CX last year and this was non qualifying for E261.
