Have just tried to redeem my AMEX voucher for a return journey in First, starting in GRU and returning from LHR. Apparently, it’s a condition of voucher use that travel must originate in the UK. Does anyone know why, or whether there’s any way around this?

Because it’s a benefit for UK based Executive Club members.

There is no way of starting your journey outside the British Isles when using your voucher.

But you can use it one way exLHR if that helps.

As ever, this is clearly stipulated in the T&Cs.

What I would suggest would be a “nested” ticket.

Ticket One: GRU-LHR-GRU (paid, or otherwise obtained)

Ticket Two: LHR-GRU-LHR (using 2for1)

Use the tickets GRU-LHR-GRU-LHR-GRU
