    I suspect that it has to do with the capacity the 380 offers ,allowing EK to move migrant workers from Kuwait to the Sub-continent and beyond.

    Was there not talk of EK configuring a 380 in high density for short haul routes?

    At about £1000 Dubai -Kuwait return it’s probably the cheapest way to sample EK’s first class on an A380…

    I believe that flights within the GCC are amongst the most profitable for them – for example they use the A380 3x per day to Jeddah and they are often full.

    The base fare (ie the element retained by the airline) is often as much as on a London-Dubai flight, plus demand for premium seats is good as the locals are prepared to pay for it.

    Plus little serious competition from Kuwait Airways.

    I don’t think Phoenix would be an A380 priority.
