I’m thinking of buying a satellite phone for when I’m in places where’s there’s no mobile phone signal.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience of them, is the quality good, price etc. From my basic research they cost about $700 and the airtime is about a (US) dollar a minute.

Hi LP – the only experience I have had with sat phones are those in the aircraft seat and in the exec aircraft I fly and the reception is generally quite good. Bundled packages have bought the airtime down quite a bit.
