BEYbritParticipantI’m travelling BEY>ZRH in early September and travel mgt co have come back with Air Serbia as offering the best times for my trip.
In fact, despite the awful middle-of-the-night departure from and arrival back into Beirut, their timings suit my needs almost perfectly, giving me three full days of work in Zurich.
My questions for the forum are as follows:
It’s a short hop in economy. Should I be expecting service that is a throwback to the days of Jat, or will the Etihad ownership have had an influence?
I have a remarkably short connection at BEG – just 50 minutes – is this really do-able? Anyone have personal experience or anecdotes to share?

hemmeretteParticipantThe airport is not at all big so 50 mins should be doable. One amusing thing: I booked an AirBerlin ticket ex BEG on my married name, when my passport was in my maiden name. Eventually I got their customer service people to agree that so long as I showed my marriage certificate, it was fine. They said that the issue might be with immigration at BEG. I turned up all ready to explain myself, but the girl could not have cared less, she just stamped and sent me on my way. Hopefully they will be as relaxed with you, so you can get through on time.

Bnweq987ParticipantI find Belgrade airport small and quite efficient. I seem to remember that security checks are at the actual gates which means you will be visible to gate staff when making a short connection rather than stuck elsewhere in the small airport. Friend flying LHR to BEY on Air Serbia found it very comfortable – old world charm apparently.

ViajeroUKParticipantFound Air Serbia very good earlier this year (since Etihad tie up) but Belgrade was my final destination so no transfer experience.
They seem in the minority for European airlines as they have business class seats in a 2-2 layout, not 3 – 3 with an empty middle seat. Hot meal service (evening flights) with choice of dishes which were very good.

DavidGordon10ParticipantI endorse all the positive comments – Air Serbia has been transformed by the Etihad link: Belgrade airport is small, mostly pretty friendly, and a 50 minute transfer will be fine.

DJ_jay_smithParticipantI’ve not transferred at BEG but been through there many times. The airport is small and has fee facilities and some oddities like no money changing facilities after security.
For a lot of flights (maybe all) you will have 2 lots of security. One at the normal entrance to departures and a second at the gate.
IMHO the gate security is just for show, no need to take out laptops, remove belts etc. and you can take liquid in with you. There are no facilities when you then enter the gate area.

KSHaggagParticipantHi BEYbrit,
I thank you for this opportunity to allow me to sing praises of my beloved Air Serbia .
Let me just share my experience with them a few months ago .
As an Etihad Guest frequent flyer Silver member ,I had read a lot about Air Serbia so I decided to give it a try .
I booked them in Business Class one way from Istanbul to Dusseldorf via. Belgrade .
Here we go :
1- Online booking experience on airserbia.com was a breeze with a very efficient booking engine .My ticket was in my inbox in a matter of minutes .
2-The business class fare was overwhelmingly attractive compared to the Competition e.g. LH,TK,LX,AF ,etc…
3- onboard from IST to BEG started the fantastic experience : very warm welcome at the aircraft door by an immaculately groomed purser and flight attendant …WOWWWW…
4- I was shown to my seat ( was the only customer in Business Class) .
5- service on board was second to none and the quality of the food served ( hot meal for this 100 min flight).
6- The crew attention to detail, service ,and care puts to shame a lot of carriers ,worth their salt .
7- The food was nicely presented and very tasty .
8-I wrote to them to commend their services .
9- my transfer experience was very smooth and the airport terminal is small ,laid back but needs a lot of work to be called World class ..
10- The Air Serbia club lounge was very basic and minimal .Anyway my 55 min connecting time seemed more than ample .
11- the connecting flight from Belgrade to Dusseldorf was as pleasant as the first one with great crew, superb food ,fantastic service and an awesome IFE offered on an iPad provided .
I would recommend Air Serbia to anyone seeking an efficient ,high quality hop within Europe !!!!
I cannot wait to fly them again: I would go out of my way to fly them .
A great niche carrier ,raising the bar in today s ailing standards !27 Aug 2015
