Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia form a new trans-Tasman alliance.

    The alliance is subject to regulatory approval and the airlines confirmed their intention to apply to the regulatory bodies of their respective countries
    The arrangement would see VA flight numbers attached to Air New Zealand flights between Australia and Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.Virgin’s NZ network currently consists of only flights to the popular tourist city of Queenstown.

    Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand had a long term partnership until October 2018, when the Air NZ pulled out of the alliance over disagreements with Virgin Australia’s then new CEO

    Members of Virgins FF club would enjoy access to ANZ’s lounges when flying between Australia and New Zealand and would earn Virgin points and status credits on these flights, and also use points to book Trans-Tasman Air New Zealand flights.
