The lounge at CDG was adequate if a bit gloomy.

There was a deciated queue at the gate for business class which was pointless since we simply joined the interminable queue of people who can’t read numbers on the jetty / plane.

The ambience of business class is non-existant. There is no divider and not even a different colour of headrest to tell you you are in business. That’s unfortunate because the plastic breakfast box, the paper cup and the plastic glass give you no clue either – since that’s all the same as economy too.

You do, however, have a guaranteed free seat in the middle but that just allowed my neighbour to place his hand luggage unsafely under the middle seat which the crew ignored.

Were this not a very competitive through fare on an otherwise impressive long haul journey I would have felt very stupid to have paid for this “service”
