The above story was published last April.

In the past week, Aer Lingus has announced it wishes to operate a frequent EDI-LHR service. The EC is expected to give a decision on November 15.

Competition on the UK’s domestic premium routing would be welcomed

Although I’m not sure that Aer Lingus would prosper on the route. Its strong Irish branding might hinder them. And their T1 corridor departure gates are a definate turn off.

Who will they buddy up to when it comes to interline agreements?

My 1st choice remains the bearded wonder getting his finger out. Join Star and launch a UK equivalant of their US domestic model !

Don’t worry too much, things at VS are progressing well.

I heard just the other day that there was a test flight of Virgin staff trying out the new products. So, I wouldn’t be too concerned about VS not being a serious competitor.
