So Airbus dropped the A340 production (http://www.airlineberg.com/index.php/2011/11/10/airbus-ended-a340-production/). Now they just have to do the same for its ugly cousin, the A330, and we’ll have a better sky! After all, why a company would buy it while they can (soon :-)) have a B787…

A330s will be around a lot longer Swissdiver because Airbus still makes 8/month and is actually upping that to 10/month by 2013 production is expected to continue into the second half of the decade, probably corresponding with the delays of the A350. Additionally, the more expensive and delayed 787 will not be really replacing A330s for several more years, plus, there are likely to be delays in the ramp-up to 10/month (it’s oh so easy to get from 2/month to 10/month).

I also agree with your point though, bring on more dreamliners!
