Please could someone recommend a suitable venue for a very vey special celebration which is being held in New York / New Jersey area in August 2011. I am looking for a suitable venue that has:

** A WOW FACTOR

**The Guest list will be 6 adults and 6 (extremely well behaved little darlings) children aged between 6 and 14

** either private dining or main room dining

**catering to cover vegetarian to the carnivorous

**service, to be stylish

**fun location not stuffy

** would consider an over the top location involving helicpoter transfers in one direction, limos back to hotel afterwards

** have thought about private dining from a high rise suite in a suitable hotel but considered that too easy and boring

**something tasteful, memorable, even if it is over the top

I have about 5 months to arrange and thought this forum may be able to come up some good ideas. I plan to go over to New York around May/June time to check on suggestions & firm things up.

I would apreciate any suggestions – thanks in advance

Hi Charles,

Wow what a set of requirements. It certainly sounds like that money is no object. Now this is completely out of my league but if i had the chance to do something like this it would have to be the The Plaza Hotel. Otherwise the Mandarin Oriental at Columbus Circle which i believe holds Thomas Kellers Per Se restaurant at the Time Warner Centre.

Thanks Rob about your budget comment. I am expecting the evening to cost somewhere between $3000-$4000. That to cover the venue and catering. The over the top elements (transfers etc, to be considered seperately).
