Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the state of Qatar, currently flies to over 150 destinations worldwide. The company recorded a net profit of US$1.54 billion during the fiscal year 2021-22 and the airline continues to grow and expand its international destination network. Last year, its loyalty programme – Privilege Club – adopted Avios, a global currency used by British Airways Executive Club and other major airlines globally.

Privilege Club members can collect Avios when travelling with Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines, airline partners, or over 100 global non-air partners. Avios can be used towards shopping and dining at Qatar Duty Free, award flights, upgrades, or extra baggage allowance.  Also, members can earn or spend their Avios to stay at one of more than 350,000 hotels worldwide or even when renting a car at over 20,000 locations, with the programme’s Hotel and Car Rewards offering.

The programme offers exclusive products to members, including the Cash + Avios payment tool and ‘Buy, Gift and transfer’. With Cash + Avios members can part-pay using Avios on shopping and dining at Qatar Duty Free, flight bookings, upgrades, seat selection and Hotel and Car Rewards. ‘Buy, gift and transfer’ Avios also enables members to purchase Avios and gift them to their loved ones.

When members spend or earn Avios, their balance validity will extend for a further 36 months. They can also pool together their Avios using the Family Program for faster rewards. It can include up to nine family members including their spouse, children (older than two years old), parents, and their spouse’s parents too.

In an industry first, passengers will now be rewarded their Avios for an upcoming flight upon check in, 120 minutes before their flight departs, thereby allowing members to spend their Avios on shopping and dining at Qatar Duty Free.

Privilege Club has four tiers of membership which are Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum. New members will start their journey with Privilege Club through the Burgundy tier. They can then upgrade or retain their status by earning Qpoints, which can be done when flying with Qatar Airways, oneworld partners and select other airlines. As a member progresses through the tiers, they will have access to exclusive benefits including priority boarding, luxury airport lounges, premium concierge services, extra baggage allowance, preferred seat selection and more. In addition, members can also purchase Qpoints through the Qatar Airways website.

The programme has partnered with multiple major brands and retailers such as Qatar Duty Free, Amex, Accor, Marriot, Booking.com, and other international entities. Recently, Qatar Airways Privilege Club enhanced their existing partnership with ALL – Accor Live Limitless, allowing Privilege Club members to link their accounts and earn both Avios and ALL Reward points, whilst also fast-tracking their tier status. Privilege Club and ALL members will earn up to 1 Avios for every €1 spent on eligible stays at participating Accor hotels, in addition to the usual ALL Reward points earned.

Privilege Club also recently entered into a 10-year strategic partnership with Visa. The collaboration enables the programme to enhance and expand its portfolio of co-branded payment cards with key financial partners across several markets worldwide.
