Qatar Airways’ codeshare partner, China Southern Airlines, has announced a new route to Doha from Guangzhou, with four weekly direct flights from 22 April.

The new direct flights will be operated with China Southern’s three-class Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with 28 1-2-1 business class seats, 28 2-3-2 premium economy, and 220 3-3-3-configured economy class seats.

China Southern becomes the latest carrier to announce a new service to Doha following Garuda Indonesia, Japan Airlines, Iberia and Xiamen Airlines.

Ex-SkyTeam China Southern Airlines is one of China’s largest airlines measured in passenger capacity and operates around 3,000 daily flights to more than 200 destinations globally.

China Southern is Qatar Airways’ second codeshare partner in China alongside Xiamen Airlines.

“Qatar Airways welcomes our codeshare partner, China Southern Airlines, to Qatar. This strategic partnership between our two airlines is a testimony of our commitment to develop traffic to and from China for the benefit of our worldwide travellers,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

“Our newly launched flight route between Guangzhou and Doha will enhance connectivity and facilitate exchanges between China and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative in trade, tourism and culture,” said President of China Southern Air Holding Company, Han Wensheng.

The new flights by China Southern Airlines will complement Qatar Airways’ existing daily service between Doha and Guangzhou.

The return sectors depart Doha on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 0115 and arrive back in Guangzhou at 1340.
