Melia Hotels International is to open the first properties under its Gran Melia brand in the Chinese cities of Chengdu and Zhengzhou.
Gran Melia Chengdu is located to the south of the city next to Jincheng Lake and close to Financial City and South Railway Station.
The hotel is scheduled to open this autumn, and is comprised of seven separate mansions inspired by Chinese traditional Shu-Han culture.
Facilities include 265 rooms and suites ranging from 50 to 270sqm, as well as all day dining restaurant Vista Cafe, Rong Palace Chinese Restaurant, Gran Via Spanish Restaurant, 3,500sqm of events space, and a spa and fitness centre with indoor swimming pool.
Meanwhile Gran Melia Zhengzhou is located close to the city’s high-speed railway, around five minutes walk from Zhengzhou East Railway Station and Metro Line 1 and 5.
The hotel features 387 rooms, three restaurants, seven meeting spaces, and a 24-hour fitness centre with swimming pool, steam room and sauna.
Guests booking rooms on the Red Level executive floor at either property will benefit from private butler service and access to the Red Level lounge.
Spanish hotel group Melia plans to open nine hotels across China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia by next year, with a further 50 properties planned for the region.
