The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is set to start on September 19 in the UAE, with the final slated to happen on November 8, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel told PTI.

The IPL Governing Council is expected to meet soon to discuss the final details and approve the schedule of the tournament. Standard operating procedure to ensure safety is being prepared.

Dubai International Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Cricket Stadium are available in the UAE

Indian commentator and journalist Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “The decks are clearing for IPL 2020. 51 days means it is not full of double headers either. I guess the next step, post-government approvals, will be to work with health and quarantine protocols in the UAE to determine procedures for playing and broadcasting.”

IPL 2020 has been made possible owing to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) decision to postpone the October-November T20 World Cup in Australia.
