The British High Commission has confirmed plans for seven additional rescue flights to bring stranded British nationals home from India.
Several phases of rescue flights have been over the last month or so, and the new services bring the total number of chartered flights from India over the last few weeks to 59.
A total of over 2,000 seats will be available on flights from Amritsar to London Heathrow, departing on May 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
The British High Commission said that “As with the last round of flights, seats on the planes will be allocated to those who have already registered via the government’s online booking portal”.
The following advice has also been provided:
- Those who are eligible to fly will be sent information on how to get to airports and flight itineraries directly when their seat is confirmed.

Commenting on the news Lord (Tariq) Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth, said:
“Our charter programme has already helped more than 10,000 British travellers return home from India by ensuring flights to the UK have run every day since April 8, with thousands more due to depart in the coming days.
“These additional flights will help over 2,000 more people get back to their loved ones here in the UK. I would like to thank the Government of India for their help in making it happen.”
The rescue flights from India are part of a £75 million programme to bring Britons stranded abroad back to the UK.
