Amidst the flurry of new international long-haul services that Hainan Airlines has been opening up over the past few years, the Chinese carrier rather quietly also has been planning expansions on a regional level, announcing on Thursday that it will be opening up a new non-stop service between Haikou and Singapore at the end of this month.

The new route’s inaugural flight will take off on November 30 and will operate three times per week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The departing HU747 flight will take off in the late afternoon from Haikou and arrive in the evening in Singapore, while the return leg will leave the Lion City late at night and arrive back in Haikou in the early hours of the morning.

Hainan Airlines’ new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, which it first took delivery of late last year and features an all-new cabin design, will operate the route, meaning business travellers will have eight business class seats available to them. Seats are laid out in a 2-2 configuration.

Economy, meanwhile, comprises 168 seats in a 3-3 layout.

Hainan Airlines launched flights from Haikou to Sydney earlier this year, and has since extended the route to include Taiyuan.
