Alitalia has opened a new lounge within Pier E at Rome Fiumicino airport.

The Casa Alitalia lounge replaces the airline’s facility at the former Pier H, following the opening of Pier E in 2016, and the relocation of the majority of Alitalia’s flights into the new facility.

Pier E is now used for “most of Alitalia’s medium and long-haul flights to extra-Schengen destinations”, and the carrier said that opening the new lounge would “improve service to passengers and make boarding operations more efficient”.

Features of the lounge include “live cooking and bar areas”, business meeting rooms, showers, wifi connectivity and a children’s area.

Access to Casa Alitalia lounges is reserved for members of Alitalia Freccia Alata Plus, Freccia Alata, SkyTeam Elite Plus clubs, Alitalia Magnifica and medium-haul business class ticket holders and Alitalia American Express Platinum cardholders flying with Alitalia.

Non-eligible customers can also purchase single entry access.

Last month British Airways opened a new 460sqm lounge at Rome Fiumicino.
