Philippine Airlines has begun rolling out its refitted three-class A330-300s, which now include a new premium economy as well as business class seating.

Previously configured as an all-economy offering of 414 seats, the new A330-300 layout offers 309 seats. The new layout is making its debut on the airline’s Manila-Honolulu route later this month, with Melbourne following in July, Sydney in August, Singapore in September, Tokyo Haneda in October, Tokyo Narita in November and Osaka in December.

The new layout features the Thompson Vantage XL business class seat, with a total of 18 offered. The Thompson Vantage XL notably features a staggered layout with seats alternating between a left and right orientation, so while each will have direct aisle access on Philippine Airlines’ A330-300, some will be marginally further from the aisle than others. All come with 44 inches of legroom and a width of 23-24 inches, and recline to a fully flat position. Seat firmness can also be adjusted using the Pneumatic Comfort System (PCS) – Philippine Airlines claims to be the first Asian carrier to offer the PCS – which also has a massage function.

The aircraft’s 24 new premium economy seats, meanwhile, will be the Zodiac 5810, which have a 38-inch pitch, 19 inches of width and an 8-inch recline. Economy class comprises 267 Economy Zodiac seats, meanwhile, with 32 inches of pitch, 17 inches in width and 6 inches of recline.

Both premium economy and business class seats have a leg rest, calf rest, footrest and coat hook, and all three classes have in-seat power supply and a USB port. Wifi is also available, and personal touch-screen monitors measure 18.5 inches, 13.3 inches and 10.1 inches in business, premium economy and economy class, respectively.

“In Philippine Airlines, we aim to please,” said the airline’s president and COO, Jaime J Bautista. “This inspired us to go through the process of providing our passengers a reconfigured aircraft with meticulous seat and IFE selection. As we journey on to becoming a five-star world-class, full-service carrier with a heart, we devote our efforts towards meeting customer needs.”
