IHG Rewards Club members staying at The Venetian Macao and The Parisian Macao can now earn points and redeem them for stays at more than 5,600 IHG hotels worldwide.

This is because the two casino hotels in Macau have become partners of the 2010-launched Intercontinental Alliance Resorts, a group of hotels that are not owned, operated or managed by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) but are “aligned with the spirit of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and complement the InterContinental portfolio”. So far, all the current and future partners are Las Vegas Sands Corporation properties.

Asked whether there is potential for non-Sands properties to join the Alliance in future, an IHG spokesperson said: “We continue to evaluate new opportunities to expand our portfolio through partnerships such as the Alliance that enables our most loyal guests to earn and redeem point in new destinations.”

Guests can book reservations for any of the alliance hotels on IHG’s official website, mobile app or by calling IHG’s global reservation centres.

The first two members were The Venetian Resort Las Vegas followed by The Palazzo at Venetian Resort. With the addition of The Venetian Macao and The Parisian Macau, the alliance now has four members, with The Londoner Hotel in Macao set to join when the hotel is completed in 2020, following the renovation of the current Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central.

IHG Rewards Club members can also redeem “Reward Nights” at all Intercontinental Alliance Resorts hotels.

In separate news, IHG Rewards Club currently has a global sale running until July 31. Business Traveller reported details of the sale here.
