Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao to open 2016

24 Jun 2015 by Clement Huang
Spanish hospitality group Meliá has announced a new hotel in Shanghai, bringing the total number of its properties in China to eight. Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao will be situated within the new centre of west Shanghai. The area of Hongqiao is being developed as a business hub for the Yangtze River Delta region. Meliá said the hotel will be well positioned to welcome MICE travellers, given its close proximity to the massive new National Convention and Exhibition Centre. With a total area of 1.47 million sqm and a capacity of up to 300,000 people, it is one of the world’s largest exhibition centres. Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao is scheduled to open in July 2016, and will offer 190 guestrooms, meeting facilities, two F&B outlets, and an executive lounge. The development of the hotel is part of the Lidoway project, which will see Golden United Group develop a mixed-used complex consisting of commercial and entertainment facilities, as well as dining outlets, alfresco areas and high-end residential villas.
