Business travellers may not be aware that they can now access the internet for free throughout London City airport.
LCY quietly launched the complimentary service back in October last year, and is experiencing around 15 per cent of departing passengers using it each month. When travellers log on to the wifi service they are directed to a LCY landing page, where their email address is recorded, and from there users can browse the internet for free.
The airport is also gearing up for its annual Fun Day in July, which is now in its 13th year. The BA-sponsored event takes place on July 4, and visitors have the chance to take a look around the cockpit of an Avro RJ100 or RJ85, as well as the opportunity to dress up in BA uniforms and enjoy activities including a mobile simulator.
The afternoon also includes central London’s only airshow, and this year the event has a sporting theme, a heads up to the fact that LCY is just two miles from the site of the 2012 Olympic Games. There will be several sporting activities to try out, including basketball, football, taekwondo and rowing, as well as traditional sports day activities such as the three-legged race.
