Jamie Oliver to open Gatwick outlets

14 Feb 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Jamie Oliver is to open three outlets at Gatwick’s North Terminal in June, the first foray into airports by the celebrity chef.

The 6,000 square foot site will feature a Jamie’s Italian restaurant and bakery, as well as a Union Jacks Bar serving an all British menu.

The Jamie’s Italian brand has over 20 outlets across the UK, as well as restaurants in Sydney and Dubai, while Union Jacks currently has one outlet in central London.

Jamie’s Italian Bakery meanwhile will offer a “grab and graze” concept, providing passengers with “high quality food, to take onto the plane or eat on the go”.

The new offering follows the unveiling of a £73 million extension to Gatwick’s North Terminal late last year (see online news November 18, 2011), including new check-in desks, self-service kiosks and baggage reclaim facilities, and new dedicated security lanes for premium travellers, families and the disabled.
