BA's merger partner Iberia is to launch a twice-weekly service between Madrid and the Angolan capital of Luanda.

The new route, the first direct service between Spain and Angola, will start on September 30, with flights departing on Mondays and Fridays using Airbus A340 aircraft configured with Business Plus seating.

The carrier says that it will offer “good connecting possibilities” for passengers from London, with flight IB3167 departing London at 1850, landing in Madrid at 2210, connecting with the 0020 IB6321 service to Luanda, arriving at 0655.

The return leg IB6322 will depart Luanda at 2240, landing in Madrid at 0725 the following day, before connecting onto flight IB3162 at 0845, landing back in London at 1005.
