Etihad increases economy checked baggage allowance
Published: 06/11/2012 - Filed under: News »
Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways has increased the checked luggage allowance for its Coral Economy passengers from 23kg to 30kg.
The new allowance applies to all flights except for those to or from the US and Canada, where a per piece baggage policy remains in use.
In addition guests in any cabin can now check in golf bags weighing up to 15kg, or scuba equipment up to the same weight, free of charge.
Earlier this year the carrier increased the checked luggage allowances for its Pearl Business and Diamond First passengers to 40kg and 50kg respectively.
Qatar Airways currently offers a 23kg allowance for economy passengers, while Emirates and Gulf Air both allow 30kg of checked luggage for their economy passengers.
Note that members of the carriers’ frequent flyer programmes may benefit from additional luggage allowances over and above the standard levels, and flights to certain destinations may also be subject to different allowances.
