German airline Lufthansa is “examining a takeover of Scandinavia’s SAS” according to a report by Reuters.
Reuters.com says that sources have told the website “exclusive negotiations are being held”, but that “a takeover os SAS was not a foregone conclusion”.
Shares in SAS were suspended following the report, and SAS’ Group Investor Relations has released the following statement:
“Regarding today's speculations in the media SAS confirms that it is in the process of evaluating various structural possibilities for the Group. Within this process SAS is conducting talks about a possible structural solution. It must be emphasized that no decision has been taken.”
