Bmi Regional to launch Newcastle-Brussels route

22 Oct 2013 by GrahamSmith

Bmi Regional is launching a double-daily service between Newcastle and Brussels next year.

The new route, which will be the only direct flight between the two cities, is scheduled to begin on March 3.

It will be operated by a 49-seater Embraer aircraft. Fares start at £140 return including taxes and hold luggage allowances.

Bmi Regional CEO Cathal O'Connell said: "This is our first route from Newcastle International and we're delighted to provide the only direct flight for travellers from the north-east of England to the Belgian capital.

"This year we've launched over a dozen new routes from British airports and our new Newcastle to Brussels service opens up opportunities for those travelling for business and for pleasure."

Newcastle is the third British airport to be linked to Brussels by Bmi Rregional, which also operates services from East Midlands and Edinburgh.

The airline became independent from Bmi last year (see news, September 2012) and has launched more than a dozen routes in 2013.
