Low-cost long-haul carrier Air Asia X is currently offering business class one-way fares on its route from London Stansted to Kuala Lumpur for £399.

The seat sale is valid for bookings made before April 26, for travel between May 5 and July 31, and when Business Traveller checked today (April 8) there seemed to be plenty of availability at this price (a total of £798 return including taxes).

The A340-300 aircraft currently on this route is a former Air Canada plane, configured for 30 business class seats with a seat pitch of 60 inches.

The sale follows increased fare competition on direct and indirect routes between Europe and South East Asia, with Singapore Airlines recently offering half-price business class tickets on its route out of the UK (see online news March 30).
