Singapore Airlines (SIA) has confirmed that it will introduce a new service linking its base in Singapore to the capitals of Australia and New Zealand.
The new “Capital Express” route will consists of a four-times weekly service, due to start on September 20, which will see the Star Alliance member operate a Singapore-Canberra-Wellington routing. Return flights will be on a Wellington-Canberra-Singapore routing.
As previously reported (see here), a new direct link between Singapore and Canberra, along with the fifth freedom traffic rights to operate the route between the Australian and New Zealand capitals, would allow passengers to gain access to SIA’s robust network without having to transit via Auckland, Melbourne or Sydney.

The service will be operated by the B777-200, which will consist of a two-class configuration, with 38 seats in business and 228 in economy. As expected, the business class product serving the route will be SIA’s angle-flat seat, which it typically uses on regional flights.
