Marco Polo Hotels has stated that it expects to almost double its portfolio in the Asia-Pacific region over the next five years.
The group has three new hotels launching in 2014, and has announced the opening of a further six within the region over the next five years. The new properties will predominantly be in China, including mid-tier and deluxe projects in Changzhou, Chengdu, Guiyang, Wuxi, Chongqing, Tianjin, Changsha and Suzhou. Marco Polo Hotels is also looking at establishing a property in the Philippines.
The group will also be launching a new brand next year, which aims to target a new generation of travellers and raise the company’s profile.
Marco Polo Hotels currently operates 13 owned or managed properties across Asia-Pacific. According to the group, its long-term ambition will be to focus on China’s key gateway and second-tier cities that offer high growth potential.
