Hilton announces Russia expansion

17 Oct 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Hilton Worldwide is to open four new properties in the Russian cities of Kazan, Moscow and Volgograd, and has announced a multi-site agreement for a further 11 potential hotels in the country.

The four new properties will be the 202-room Hilton Kazan, scheduled to open in spring 2014, the 432-room DoubleTree by Hilton Moscow Vnukovo Airport slated for 2013, the 158-room Hilton Garden Inn Volgograd due to open at the end of 2012, and the 156-room Hampton by Hilton Volgograd Profsoyuznaya, scheduled to open in late 2013.

Hilton debuted in Russia just three years ago, when it opened the Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya within one of the city’s famous “Seven Sisters” skyscrapers (see online news August 27, 2008), and now has three hotels in the country, with four more expected to open by the end of 2012.

The new properties announced this week bring the total number of Hilton-branded hotels either trading or under development in Russia to 23, making the country Hilton’s leading development pipeline in Europe.

In addition to these properties Hilton has also signed an agreement with Osnova Development LLC to develop at least 11 further hotels in “target locations” including Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don and Ufa. These properties are expected to be predominantly Hampton by Hilton hotels, “with scope for some Hilton Garden Inn properties”.
