Following its latest masterplan to aggressively grow its Radisson brand (see news), Carlson Hotels has announced that the first Radisson Blu hotel in Asia-Pacific will be located in Cebu, The Philippines. The launch is expected to take place in September.
Hubert Joly, Carlson president, CEO and director, described the event as “a pivotal milestone in our continued Ambition 2015 global growth strategy”. The chain is targeted to have 600 properties by 2015 marked as either Radisson Blu or Radisson Green. Primary gateways get a Radisson Blu, while secondary cities land a Radisson Green.
Located in Cebu’s sprawling North Reclamation area, the 400-room Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, owned by SM Investments Corporation, will feature 10 function rooms, two ballrooms, a spa and fitness centre, swimming pool and several restaurants. It is located beside SM City Cebu shopping complex, which attracts an average daily foot traffic of over 100,000.
The Philippines' second largest city, Cebu is an acknowledged tourism and commercial hub, thanks to its long coastline and improving international connections at Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
Multinationals such as Pentax, Asahi Optical, Timex, United Technologies and NEC Technologies among others have a presence in Cebu.
