Star Alliance has launched a multi-carrier fare for travellers making several stops within northern Asia. The Circle North Asia fare can be used on flights between China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Japan and Korea.
The fare is valid on Air China, ANA, Asiana and Shanghai Airlines and must include China, Japan and Korea, with at least three stopovers. Travel must begin and end in the same country, but it means that passengers can travel in the region with a single booking.
Reservations for the first flight should be made seven days before departure, but the following flights can be booked at the last minute and changed without any extra charge. The maximum length of time the ticket is valid for is three months, the minimum is three days.
The fare can be bought for first, business or economy, and will vary according to the distance the passenger intends to travel, with a choice of 4,800 or 6,600 miles.
As an example, a 4,800-mile economy class Circle North Asia fare (excluding taxes and fees), originating in Hong Kong, would cost HK$ 8,380 (£667), while a business class ticket for the same mileage would cost HK$13,370 (£1,065). An increased mileage of 6,600 miles, again originating from Hong Kong, would cost HK$ 10,560 (£841) in economy and HK$ 16,760 (£1,336) in business. For a full list of prices see below.
