Air Canada will launch a B787-8 Dreamliner service between Vancouver and Brisbane next June.
The airline will initially operate the non-stop route three-times weekly, but plans to increase it to a daily service, subject to regulatory approval.
From June 17, outbound flight AC35 will depart Vancouver at 2345 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, landing in Brisbane at 0715 two days later.
Return flight AC36 will leave Brisbane at 1040 on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arrive in Vancouver at 0715 the same day.
Air Canada's B787-8 comes in a three-class configuration with 20 seats in business class, 21 in premium economy and 210 in economy.
Calin Rovinescu, Air Canada's president and CEO, said: "Already, Air Canada commits $2 billion worth of aircraft to the Pacific market each day and Brisbane is the third new Pacific route we have announced in the past year, after Toronto-Tokyo Haneda and Vancouver-Osaka.
"We will be offering the only non-stop, year-round flights from Canada to Brisbane, a financial hub as well as a tourism gateway to Australia's Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef, using our Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
"The operating economics of the Dreamliner together with the efforts of the Vancouver Airport Authority who have maintained airport operating costs at levels among the lowest in Canada, have enabled us to grow our Vancouver hub."
Last month, it emerged that Air Canada will roster a B787-8 aircraft between Calgary and London Heathrow from early next year (see news, June 15).
