Boeing has unveiled the first B787-9 to be delivered to launch carrier Air New Zealand.
The Dreamliner was rolled out of the paint hangar at the manufacturer's base in Everett, Washington, on Saturday, sporting ANZ's new black livery.
The aircraft is the first to feature the black version of Air New Zealand's new-look livery design. The white version has been gradually introduced across the airline's domestic fleet in recent months (see news, June 2013).
While the majority of ANZ's fleet will eventually feature the white version, a limited number will feature the signature black version.
Mark Jenks, Boeing's vice president of 787 Airplane Development, said: "With the unveiling of this beautiful airplane and our continued progress in flight test, this is an exciting time for the entire 787-9 team.
"We look forward to delivering the first 787-9 to Air New Zealand."
ANZ's first scheduled B787-9 route will be between Auckland and Perth from October 15 (see news, November 7).
The airline has confirmed its B787-9 will have an 18 lie-flat seat Business Premier zone in a herringbone layout and a separate 21-seat Premium Economy cabin in a 2-3-2 configuration, each with its own bathroom facilities. The two Economy cabins will accommodate 263 passengers, including 14 Skycouch rows.
ANZ has ten 787-9s on order.
