Marriott pushes forward into India

12 Apr 2010

Marriott International is enhancing two airports in India with a JW Marriott and a Courtyard by Marriott, part of its vigorous long-term push into the subcontinent.

Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport (pictured) is the first to open with 331 rooms, including 77 executive rooms and 16 suites.

An introductory promotion, “You Stay, We Pay,” offers guests INR3,000 (US$67.51) in hotel credit, redeemable against any on-site services such as suite upgrades, dining, cocktails, airport transfers and more. This offer is valid until September 30, 2010.

Eight meeting rooms as well as both indoor and outdoor breakout areas cater to meetings and event planners needs. There are several restaurants on the premises, with MoMo Café operating round the clock.

In 2012, it will be the turn of JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi International Airport to open for business.

Adjacent to India’s premier aviation hub, the 510-room property signals the chain’s arrival in the New Delhi Metropolitan area. Eventually, it will feature five restaurants, a signature spa, executive club lounge and full business centre among other facilities.

Besides the JW Marriott hotel at New Delhi's airport, Marriott announced it had signed up to manage three others: the 250-room Bengaluru Marriott Whitefield Hotel (2011), the 365-room Jaipur Marriott Hotel (2011) and 200-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Hyderabad Hitec City (2013). This brings the total to 29 properties now under construction or in planning in India.

When all are opened by the end of 2013, Marriott International will have 40 hotels under management in the country.
