Thai hospitality group Centara Hotels and Resorts has come a long way over the last four decades from a single class-leading hotel that opened in Bangkok in the early 1980s. 

This year, the group celebrates its 40th founding anniversary and has grown into a global hospitality major with six brands – Centara Reserve, Centara Grand, Centara, Centara Boutique Collection, Centra by Centara and Cosi – and 93 properties spread across 13 countries. 

The Middle East features prominently in the group’s global portfolio and it is present in Doha, Muscat and Dubai. Here’s a look at what you can expect from its properties within the region.

Centara West Bay Hotel and Residences, Doha 

The 172-key property is located within Doha’s business district, and looks out over West Bay North Beach. It comprises studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences, as well as penthouses. Ranging from 45-365 sqm, all units feature large windows to flood the room with natural light during the day. Each unit also has a kitchen area with a stove, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, as well as a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and smart TV making this ideal for short- and long-stay guests. On-site facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre with a yoga and aerobics studio, as well as sauna and steam rooms. There are several restaurants on the property including Thai Kitchen Restaurant and Bar, The Mezze House, Cenfit Café, Bandi Burgers and Biryani Box.

Centara Muscat Hotel, Oman 

Located in the vibrant Al Ghala business district of Muscat, it is only a 15-minute drive from the city’s international airport. The hotel features 152 rooms and suites, with options of king- or twin-beds. One of the most prominent suites on the property is The Executive Suite King which has a separate living room. At this hotel, you’ll find several facilities including a fully-equipped gym, a rooftop swimming pool, a spa, and two restaurants – Tiptara and The Roof Restaurant.

Centra by Centara Muscat Dunes Hotel 

This property is also located in the capital of Oman and appeals to both business and leisure travellers. The hotel is conveniently accessible from landmarks in the city including the new Mall of Oman. There are 78 units at this property spread across three categories: Standard, Deluxe and Suites. For larger families, the Family Suites have a separate living and dining area with a kitchenette. For guests visiting the property who are arriving from the airport or departing to the airport, the hotel can organise a shuttle service. It has one all-day dining venue, Nana Thai that also serves Middle Eastern cuisine. Available on-site at this hotel are a fitness centre, business centre, spa and a rooftop pool.

Al Hail Waves Hotel – Managed by Centara 

The third hotel from the group within Muscat, Al Hail Waves Hotel is situated within walking distance of the Seeb Corniche. The entertainment destination of Al Mouj which features retail and dining facilities and also an 18-hole golf course is a five-minute drive from the hotel. Al Hail Waves features 64 rooms ranging in size from 20-40 sqm, with some of the most popular accommodation options being the generously sized Deluxe Suite King room and the Family Rooms. Here too, you’ll find a rooftop pool, fitness centre, business centre and high-speed complimentary wifi access. F&B options include an all-day dining venue of Hong Thai restaurant, and also the Pool Bar that serves beverages and snacks.

Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai

For a full-scale resort holiday, head to this property located on the Dubai Islands development in the UAE. The beachfront resort has 607 units. All the rooms and suites have balconies and are interconnected so that they can accommodate larger families. The prime accommodation is the six Two-bedroom Suites, each of which features 130 sqm of space and includes a separate living area and terrace. As a resort, it has excellent leisure facilities including an 18,000 sqm beachfront, a water park with a lazy river, a beachfront swimming pool, three kids’ clubs, a spa, a water sports centre and a high-rope adventure park. There are several F&B options at the property including Suan Bua which offers a Thai buffet spread, Uno Mas which serves Argentinian grills, Sheesh which is a Lebanese restaurant and bar and Waves Beach Bar, among others. Apart from a leisure component, the resort also has multiple large events and meeting spaces that can cater to MICE events and company off-sites perfectly lending this property a bleisure positioning.
