Qatar from Birmingham (BHX)

    It must be a year ago that Qatar announced they were going to fly from BHX. What has happened?

    I fly regularly to BKK from BHX. Only Turkish, Emirates, and very recently Air India offer connections. It would be great if Qatar, or Etihad, or anyone else could set up a bit more competition.

    I thought this was a route earmarked for 787 and was delayed because of the debacle with the Dreamliners.

    There was also speculation that they would fly from EDI ?

    I think some routes are possibly awaiting the opening of the new airport and some for plane deliveries. Between the two issues I guess it might be a few more months until we hear more on these proposed routes
